Children's Legal Alliance Program

kid_with_disability-lr.jpgAt-risk youth, particularly those with disabilities and unmet mental health needs, too often encounter barriers which prevent them from receiving appropriate educational services. As a result of these barriers, many children and teens do not receive appropriate classroom instruction and services to which they are entitled.

LSEM's Children's Legal Alliance Program works to combat these problems by providing FREE educational advocacy to qualifying children with special needs who are not receiving appropriate services, and those who have been excluded from school.

The Children's Legal Alliance Program can help you if:

  • You want your child's school to conduct testing for special education services;
  • You want help improving your child's special education plan (IEP);
  • You want your child's school to provide promised special education services;
  • Your child is facing suspension or expulsion from school;
  • Your child is facing suspension or expulsion from school and you want them to have access to an alternative education;
  • You are unhappy with the special education services provided to your child;
  • Your child needs accommodations and/or services under American With Disabilities Act and/or Section 504;
  • You want to correct inaccurate or misleading school records;
  • Your child is an English Language Learning student and needs help obtaining instruction and services; or
  • Your children are experiencing homelessness and you want assistance in enrolling them in school.
