Law Student Opportunities

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM) is proud to provide hands-on and interactive learning experiences for students currently enrolled in law school.  We offer part-time opportunities during the fall and spring semesters, and full and part-time opportunities during the summer months.  Although these internships are unpaid, many of our students qualify for federal work study or public interest stipends through their schools.

We currently participate in on-campus interviews at St. Louis University School of Law, Washington University School of Law and the University of Missouri – Columbia School of Law for our summer internships.

Social Worker Practicum Opportunities

LSEM offers practicum opportunities for social work students at all levels. Students are selected for a specific program, focusing on housing, youth and family, domestic violence, immigration, education, health, and/or mental health. Students will develop micro and macro level social work skills on a multi-disciplinary team.

Practicum responsibilities vary based on student interest and program, but can include: client assessment and case management; crisis intervention; community networking, outreach and coalition building; policy research and analysis; program evaluation; and grant reporting. Positions are available year-round.
